  1. Hi all, after completing the Humber Sprint Triathlon yesterday, 1hour 16mins, chuffed with that very hilly course, its now the begining of the Burringham Duathlon Series. Even if its not your cup of tea, cross training is good for overal bike fitness and can be an advantage for anyone wanting to shed a few pounds...names unmentioned. They cost £2/week or £10 for the full summer series, the first one is Wednesday 8th April 6.30 at Burringham.

Follow this link here to the Lincsquad website with all of the details on

  3. Yes, will be doing the time trials, need to work on my bike speed, it's one area that I am lacking. My muscles are built for endurance, if I work on my short distance speed, I might be able to catch you up at the duathlons!

  5. Should we say a 9am Start, gets everyone home for dinner time. How about starting at Burringham picnic site, bit more room than outside Jamie's house for parking.

  7. The first Treaderz Team training ride went well yesterday morning with 8 riders in total. Weather conditions were good with a light north easterly wind, which kept the temperature down but didn't put any wind related obstacles in our way! All the team stayed together throughout the ride and we were back to the finish point by 12.30.

The details from my bike computer can be viewed via this link, if you copy and paste it:

The next ride starting from Kippax, near Leeds will be a lot more challenging with hills, town centres and motorway junction crossings, I will post the map details for this ride shortly but will also be producing a paper map for the day for all riders who let me know that they want one in advance.

  8. To all who have been looking at the Team Training ride, I may have to alter the date of the June ride to the following weekend as I am struggling to get a flight back from our holiday before this date but will keep you all posted.

If anyone is interested in a nice long ride this weekend, I will be doing a 50 mile hilly circuit from Kippax up around Ilkley, Harrogate and Wetherby, should have some big grinding hills in it if anyone needs the practice. Let me know if you are interested and we can talk about start time and location

  9. Hello all. Whilst up in Yorkshire last weekend, I took the opportunity to climb Greenhow Hill (it's been playing on my mind a little), and I thought I'd share the experience with you ...... Its bleeding steep.

  10. The final training ride was a tough but enjoyable one. I think i suffered most having just come back off holiday, very little sleep and nk training on the previous 2 weeks certainly showed, plus 2 more punctures added to my misery of the day.

It was an enjoyable ride taking in some of the highest hills in Wensleydale, the 55 mile ride took just over 4 hours, leaving us with an average speed of about 14.5 mph, which given the terrain was acceptable.

Well that's it for the training, on to the real thing.

My final weekend before we set off will consist of a 30 mile ride Friday night after work, a 50 mile ride on Saturday (Wakefield/Dewsbury route) and a 60 mile on Sunday through the hills. If I can cope with this lot the ride will be a walk in the park, I hope. lol
